The city council of Kortrijk wants to build a dance hall, complementary to the existing youth centre Tranzit which borders the site. We suggest organizing the foyer and outside space half underground. The dance hall can be organized on top of the foyer, thereby placing it on the same level as the existing youth center. All logistics take place on the north side through an extension of the existing loading quay. A brick plinth envelops the building. The upper levels have a perforated brick façade, creating a monolithic appearance by day, becoming somewhat transparent by night. The building as such creates an ambiguous dialogue with its surrounding.
