The layout of the building is based on its immediate surroudings. Its optimal east-west orientation allows for an abundance of daylight and broad views. The program provides for an administration zone (blue), a multifunctional hall (yellow), a logistic zone (orange) and storage areas (red). In order to minimize the impact of the building on the existing public school, the facade is drawn back at the eastside, thereby accentuating the entrance to the new administrative centre on the southside. This results in a playful and dynamic building, perfectly matching its function as youth centre. In order to guarantee as much play area as possible to the existing school, both ends of the building are squeezed down to create an accessible rooftop. The roof top as such acts as substitute to a conventional garden and becomes an integral part of the school.
